Target Group: Elementary & Secondary Students

Community Living Algoma (CLA)  provides services and supports to individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families, across the District of Algoma.  CLA is a non-profit association that advocates for people who have an intellectual disability to be fully included in all aspects of community life.

The goal of Community Living Algoma is: "That all persons live in a state of dignity, share in all elements of living in the community, and have the opportunity to participate effectively."

An intellectual disability is an accepted term used to describe a disability that significantly offects a person's ability to learn and use information.  This disability is also commonly referred to as a development disability.  An intellectual disability is often diagnosed in childhood and continues lifelong.

Community Living Algoma provides supports to people throughout their lifetime.  Children's services transition into adult services at age 18.
